Local Artists Come together in Chinatown

Rafael Cardenas, Juan Luis Garcia Open Photography Exhibition at Homegirl Cafe

 WHAT:            An exhibition of the latest work by Los Angeles based photographers, Rafael Cardenas, and Juan Luis Garcia opens tonight with a reception celebrating their respective showings of “Because L.A.” and “Those Who Favor Fire”

RAFAEL CARDENAS: “Because L.A.” documents the cultural landscape of Los Angeles’ eastside neighborhoods and its often unseen residents. His photographs show the beauty and realness of the city as witnessed through the lens of someone born, raised and entrenched in the community.


JUAN LUIS GARCIA: In "Those Who Favor Fire” Juan Luis Garcia's, displays his photographs of flowers that have been set ablaze, conveying the dangerous passion that love inspires. Garcia is a photographer, graphic designer and art director based in Los Angeles known for his intimate portraits and movie poster


HOMEGIRL CAFÉ: One of six social enterprise business started by Homeboy Industries, where young women are placed in what is often their first “real job”. Homegirl Café serves breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday, and Saturday brunch featuring an innovative menu by founding Chef Pati Zarate.
